Send email through nPrinting from Qlikview application

Hi All,

We have below requirement:

Email PDF report to managers and salespaerson through nPrinting.

req1: managers will receive 2 pddf report. One summary level and second one each sales person level report.

e.g. Mgr1 will receive summary report. Summary report will display total sale done through his sales rep( Jay 1, Jay 2, jay 3)

Detail report will show his sales rep performnace which can be retrieved from details tab.

req 2: each salesperson will receive report for their performance only, and no other report.

We are not using section access in qlikview report, how I can send such report through nPrinting. How I will configure parameters.

Please note, We have huge amount of data in reality.

Hi Nita,

I might have missed something but you should be able to solve this with two reports and two distributions.

Distribution 1:

Report 1 - The summary level that only goes to the managers should be pretty straight forward and be filtered on the sales team field (or similar) and setup to be attached in send out.

Report 2 - You create a report listing the individual sales persons numbers. You filter it based on sales team.

Distribution 2:

You should be able to use the report 2 but instead of filter on sales team instead filter and distribute based on the individual sales person.

Its hard to give a much better insight and thought without more information.

Thanks for your reply. May be I am unable to understand solution.

I have created desired report in qlikview for summary and individual report.But I am unable to decide what should be the approach to distribute report via email through nPrinting. Each manager should receive his summary report and his assignee report.

In nPrinting i see, three kinds of receipients available(correct me if i misunderstood nPrinting concept, as I am working very recently on this tool):

Recipients: Here i can hardcode email id. I do not see field can be put in here.

Recipient Import: Import recipient mail id through file or directory. I do not have such files/directory.

Recipient Group: This is also not suitable for my requirement.

I want to use email_id field used in the qlikview report for this distribution. Hope I am able to clarify my issue. In case you need further clarification, please let me know.

Hi Nita,

To achieve this, you need implement section access in the Qlikview, which will reduce the data based on the manger and sales person login, the data part with hierarchy cannot be directly achieve in NPrinting it has to come though Qlikview, so build the logic of data reduction with the hierarchy in qlikview and use the same in NPrinting

Hi Avinash,

I understand need of section access. The report content in qlikview will not be accessible to managers and their hierarchy. Some third party will have access to qlikview reports, they will send it to managers and below hierarchy. So, we are not using section access.

Without this section access, I am not able to achieve my functionality. Is there a workaround, you can identify.

Hi Nita,

Hampus is correct. You need 2 tasks and 2 reports. One for the Managers only and the other for Managers and Salesmen. All Managers and Salesmen should be added as Recipients with the appropriate recipient filter. I have attached a small project that demonstrates one way to accomplish all this. Please extract to C:\Temp\NITA to preserve the paths used. I suggest that you use the Test feature as the recipient email addresses are dummies. i understood your approach. I have only concerns:

I see for each sales person and manager, we have done hard coded filetrs. Is there a way that values will be created automatically. Since we have huge data with a big salesforce, it will be very difficult to create those filter condition.

Hi Nita,

I assume that your recipients will be stored somewhere (RDBMS, Excel file etc.), and that you will use a Recipient Import task to import/manage them in your QlikView NPrinting project. The complete Filter syntax is:

[connectionName].[field] = {value1<isnumeric,evaluate>,value2<isnumeric,evaluate>,...}<drop,unlock,lock,verify,excluded> However, in it's simplest form it would simply be field={value}<verify>

It should be fairly straightforward for a developer to parse the contents of the field to be filtered on and build the required filter syntax. This would ideally be stored in the recipient source database. If a recipient is added, deleted or modified, it's corresponding filter should also be added or updated as required. You should create and use distribution groups as recipients for report tasks. This way you can assign recipients to a particular group during the recipient import process and not have to manually add and remove recipients from a task.
