Hello,

I am trying to display common career paths by various dimensions, such as Pay Band, Occupational Community, Proficiency Level, etc. The dimensions are limitless.

The population of employees in my model have worked over various time periods such as, some worked from 1986 - 2000 others worked from 1996 through present, etc, etc. So, I normalized the time axis to be by work year. So, it's basically Work Year 1 employees were in this pay band, this occupational community, this proficiency level, and whatever other dimensions I am aggregating over. They Work Year 2 employees were etc etc.

What is the best visualization to show most likely values by work year? I want to see most likely Pay Band value, Most Likely Occup Comm, Most Likely Proficiency Level. I can't seem to find a visualization that will do this. I tried the timeline, but it wants a date.. not a Work Year. I've used heat maps, but I can really only show a max of 3 dimensions at a time.

My data model allows me to do this, but I can't find a qlik visual that will let me do it all on one...

A screenshot or qvf would be helpfull but try:

Pivot table

Row Work Year

Columns: Pay Band, Occupational Community, Proficiency Level...

Measures: Use FirstSortedValue() or Mode() logic to extract the most common value.

I have the mode and such. Was hoping for a graphic as opposed to just a pivot table. Does qlik have anything? The heat map and grid chart show things somewhat, but it can show only 3 dimensions at a time. Trying to use one graphic

My data model is quite simple and is organized like this:

Work Year, PersonID, Dimension, MostLikelyDimensionValue

Work Year has values of 1, 2, 3, etc

PersonID is the Unique identifier of each employee

Dimension is the name of the dimension examined, such as Pay Band, Occup Community, Proficiency

Dimension Value is the value of the dimensions band 1, band 2, band 3, etc, Proficiency Value of beginner, moderate, advanced, Community of Eng, Fin, Cont

Does gantt require dates? I don't have any dates. It's all just Work Year discreet values and where each employee spent most of their time in that year. I also have 30,000+ employee paths.

I don't know how this custom object is implemented. There may also other similar extensions and there might be further possibilities to adjust the axis, for example with a dual(), like:

dual(WorkYear, makedate(Workyear))

Further, similar views might be also created with native charts, like hinted here:

@mtkst13 are you asking if there is a visualization that would visualize more than three dimensions at the same time?

In a sense, yes. I'm trying to model common/most likely career paths over Normalized time by various dimensions.

I don't know if that's possible. Just to make sure I understood you correctly, are you looking to have a visual that would show something like count of employees in expert proficiency level (dimension 1) of finance community (dimension 2) within a pay band 3 (dimension 3) in a year 7 (dimension 4) of employees career year in a chart/graph? And then compare that to, say, year 8 of employee's career?
