Web File Connector

I am attempting to access a file stored on an FTP server by using a Web File Connector. At one point this worked for me:

URL:

ftp://user:pass@ftpserver.com/filelocation pass@ftpserver.com/filelocation

However, now this connector fails with an Unknown Error and when I try to create a new one to a different file I get the same error. In both cases I can access the file I need (an excel document) when I put the url in my browser. Is there some other way I need to be doing this? Seems like a pretty basic requirement.
