When are selections calculated on non-active sheets

When I make a selection on one sheet, at what point in time are the visualizations on non-active sheets calculated? Is it when I make the selection or when I navigate to the non-active sheet.

Sheet objects are rendered and therefore calculated when the sheet is activated. So by changing to a sheet the objects will be recalculated and rendered. Changing selections while on a sheet will also trigger a recalculation. Objects on non-active sheets are not recalculated when selections change. The same applies to hidden objects on an active sheet unless they contain expressions that are used to determine if they're shown or not.
