Using a CLOB in a Direct Query

I'm using a direct query and one of the fields is a CLOB (coming from an Oracle table.)

If I include the CLOB field in either the MEASURE or DETAIL section and try to access it in any visualization, I get either a "Database Connection Failed" or "Direct Query attempted against missing or non-direct table" error.

I can use any other field present in the MEASURE or DETAIL section without error.

If I do a standard Load statement with the CLOB field then I can use it anywhere without error.

I've tried the OLEDB, ODBC and Oracle drivers.

Is it not possible to use a CLOB in a direct query? If it is possible, could someone please post an example?
