Linking multiple tables in QlikSense

I just completed today an introductory course in QlikSense. My question relates to creating linkages/associations between multiple data tables in order to create visualizations and analyses.

25 years ago I used Microsoft Access to work with massive dbase files, too big for Excel. I would pull these multiple tables into Access and then visually on screen, work to link the files on the best data element to associate. If you have done this, it was critical to get the "arrow" pointing in the correct direction, to ensure the resulting joined table was accurate, with no multiple data, etc.

In the course today, 25 years later, the instructor seemed to say that only with programming language knowledge can you accomplish the same thing, linking between tables using the most appropriate data element common to the tables.

I find that very hard to believe, that a tool like Qlik Sense makes it so hard to link tables, that you need to know programming language, whereas Access 25 years ago made it easy.

I MUST be missing something, but would love any and all input.

Thanks, Chip

Hi @chipstokes02,

I think there must some misunderstanding. In Qlikview association happen automatically based on the field's name.

please go through with the below video for reference.

Abhi,

Thank you very much. This is what was missing from my intro course, very helpful. This approach is similar to my work in MS Access many years ago, so this resonates with me.

Much appreciated!
