You don't. But in the Visualization Bundle you can find the Multi KPI object that does have a setting for the background color.

Or, you could change background colour through the theme file. Here is the JSON code:

"kpi": { "backgroundColor": "#333333"} - the colour code is just an example you could choose yours.
