topic Apps losing updates made (Qlik Sense Enterprise) in App Development

I've encountered a weird - and serious - problem, it has happened twice with different apps and a couple of weeks in between these occasions. This is what happens:

I'm working on developing an app - editing load script and designing sheets and all is well. Then I leave the computer, to do something else for a while or to sleep at night. Next time I open the app, the changes that I made are gone.

The really strange thing is this:
I checked the Last Modified date in the apps section of QMC, and that timestamp is earlier than when I was last working on the app - I suppose it corresponds to the (older) version of the app that I'm seeing when I open it. It indicates that my edits haven't been saved when I was working last time. But when checking the actual stored app in our fileshare, that timestamp is more recent.

And it turns out that I can restore my lost edits by copying the app from the fileshare to a new location (and add filextension .qvf), and then import that copy through QMC. All the edits that were gone are present again! Only in the new imported version of the app, not the "original" where the edits were lost - that version still doesn't show me the latest changes.

How can this be?? I don't get it. I don't understand the logic in how it could happen, and I certainly don't understand what to do to avoid this problem in the future. Any suggestions?

Environment: Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows, November 2022 patch 3, two nodes (central node with QSR, and one rim node, both have purpose "Both" i.e. Development and Production), more than enough RAM and CPU, the folders for root/apps/static content are located on separate fileshare server. I have the RootAdmin role.
