This is actually the solution that I am currently implementing, and it is a good solution, just not as ideal as being able to set the dimension individually for each chart. I really like how the alternative dimensions behave and I see that as the best method to handle changing dimensions, but if it isn't possible to affect only a single dimension then I will keep implementing the method we are currently using.

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to "lock" one of your dimensions on a chart when using alternative dimensions? For example, let's say that I want a linechart with my X-Axis being Year to show trended data and a secondary dimension to show multiple lines. I want to be able to change my second dimension by adding alternative dimensions (e.g. Ethnicity, Gender, Title, etc.), but if I add alternative dimensions, then it gives the user the option to change the dimension being used for the X-Axis, which I do not want.

Basically, I want to have alternative dimensions, but lock one of my dimensions so that it can't be changed.

As my understanding, it's not supported to lock dimension in QlikSense. You can implement cycle dimension for your 2nd dimension.

Please take a look at this: Cycle dimensions using a variable button or dropdown
