topic Qlik Sense - SQL Server perodic connectivity issues in Connectivity & Data Prep

Hi,

We've been experiencing this issue sporadically for a long time however recently it's started happening every day and it is causing major issues for our dashboards.

Simply put, the connection between Qlik and SQL seems to come and go.

The connection definitely works because it does run fine sometimes, I can't find out what is triggering the issue.

The error we get is:

Error: Connector connect error: IDataInitialize::GetDataSource. HRESULT = 80004005. ErrorSource: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server, ErrorMsg: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

As I say, the message is not reflective of the issue as it could be 2 mins later and it's working again.

When it's down, it doesn't run in tasks and can't connect via the connection panel in the script editor.

We do have a lot of tasks running, some which take a while so i'm not sure if it's being 'overwhelmed'

I don't know too much about the backend of Qlik, but I don't think it's anything to do with versions/34 bit...but I have no idea.

I've also spoken to the IT department but they assure me nothing is happening on the server at the times this happens

Several of the apps which generate most of the QVDs are failing lately, which means that I have to keep trying to reload and checking if the connection is back up. We have a lot of external client dashboards so it's vital we fix this.

Thanks in advance

Hi @VW ,

Maybe have a look at this article.
Application Reload on RIM node fails with error: "ErrorSource: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server, ErrorMsg: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied" but works when reloaded on Central Node (qlik.com)

I would also suggest to run your tasks with retries.

or

try NoLock on your SQL Select
