Connectivity between Office 365 SharePoint and Qlik Sense

Hi, I'm using Qlik Sense May 2024 Version. I need to access the Office 365 SharePoint from Qlik Sense.

Kindly suggest how to create connections, what could be the Base URL and Prompt/Consent level etc.

Hi @Alan_Slaughter Below are the steps i did.

1. Opened the Qlik Sense Hub

2. Create a new app and try to create new connection.

3. While creating the new connection, I choose office 365 sharepoint connectors

4. After that, I gave the base sharepoint url. Then I choose select_account under Prompt level.

5. Then try to authenticate. once authenticate another window opened with key.

6. I copied that key and pasted in the respective key and verify

7. Then its shows

Status: Authenticated

User: XXX

Created: 25 Mar 2025 12:45:31

Expires: N/A

8. After that when i tried to click test connections, I'm facing issue.

"Failed on attempt 1 to GET. (Message: The remote name could not be resolved: 'XXX.sharepoint.com')"

Kindly suggest. Thanks.

Try disabling Proxy, VPN etc to ensure the network is fine.

You're using select_account, which is fine for testing or multiple users. If you're doing this on a server or for unattended access, consider using:

none → No prompt, uses last logged in session

consent → To trigger consent screen if needed

But for most dev/test scenarios, select_account is OK.

To fix this issue please add the *.sharepoint.com and *.microsoft.com to your internet options.
To do that do the following steps:
1) press on the "windows" button and search for internet options - open it.
2) Navigate to "connections" tab
3) Press on the Add VPN and add 2 separate lines:
*.sharepoint.com
*.microsoft.com
4) Select one of these newly created VPN connections and select the Settings
5) You might want to tick the "Automatically detect settings" or use automatic configuration script.

Please discuss this with your IT before as there could be already some settings that might conflict with the newly added settings. Also you might want to check if it's within the companies security policy to do so.

I would recommend to quickly test it out, disable or remove them and then discuss it with your IT.

Hi @KalmerKaljuste-BeTerna My connection got successful. But after that when I tried to access the files.

I'm getting the below message.

" An error occurred

The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden"

Please suggest.

Did you also try in Step 5 to leave everything "un-selected"?
5) You might want to tick the "Automatically detect settings" or use automatic configuration script.

If you still get an error when everything is unselected then there's probably a permission error on Sharepoint 365 side. Make sure that the user has enough priviledges to access the side (in azure)+
even though the service user has all the priviledges in SharePoint (with azure), you might need to also apply to the service account or user a 365 tenant to access and read/write the files.
