Correct order to stop/start QS services

Hello,

Could someone please confirm the correct order to stop/ start QS services?

Here is what I found in a post on community:

1st option:

stop "QlikSenseEngineService"

stop "QlikSenseProxyService"

stop "QlikSensePrintingService"

stop "QlikSenseSchedulerService"

stop "QlikSenseServiceDispatcher"

stop "QlikSenseRepositoryService"

stop "QlikSenseRepositoryDatabase"

start "QlikSenseRepositoryDatabase"

start "QlikSenseRepositoryService"

start "QlikSenseEngineService"

start "QlikSenseProxyService"

start "QlikSensePrintingService"

start "QlikSenseSchedulerService"

start "QlikSenseServiceDispatcher"

2nd option:

stop "QlikSenseProxyService"

stop "QlikSensePrintingService"

stop "QlikSenseSchedulerService"

stop "QlikSenseEngineService"

PS: I tried stopping the services as per the second option and I ran into issues with the QlikSenseEngineService. The service froze while stopping and I had to restart the machine (a bit difficult when dealing with production platform). Maybe not related, but I would really appreciate your opinion on this topic.

Hello Diana!

In order to Restart Qlik server's services please follow the below steps.

Open task manager and go to services tab.

Find repository database service and press stop. It automatically stops all Qlik services.

Now in order to start them again you need to follow the below sequence.

   1. Qlik Sense Repository Database (QRD)
   2. Qlik Sense Service Dispatcher (QSD)
   3. Qlik Sense Repository Service (QRS)
   4. Qlik Sense Proxy Service (QPS), Qlik Sense Engine Service (QES), Qlik Sense Scheduler Service (QSS), and Qlik Sense Printing Service (QPR) in no specific order.

These are the official instructions found in Qlik's manual.

can anyone please point me to the link where it mentions the above stop order for services? I had seen it. But, can't find it out now.

I can't stop RS and RD. it says "A stop control has been sent to a service that other running services are dependent on." I started to stop all services before RS and RD but Engine Service is taking very long time to stop, in fact, it has been in stopping status for the pass 30 mins.

Anyone else encounters this issue?

For me, stopping engine service takes 20 minutes

But when there are no user sessions, it will stop immediately
