Many thanks herbert88 and simon.minifie for your replies.

I finally got the QMC admin to test this with me and as you've said it worked perfectly. On Dev environment I published an App and kept a copy. On the published App users created sheets and some of those sheets were published to the community. On the copied App I updated and created sheets. Then asked the QMC admin to republish it and all new changes were there as you've mentioned.

I guess being new to Qlik Sense and thinking of an App as a file, makes it difficult for us to understand why this worked but we'll get there. Maybe the user created objects don't live in the app but in the repository as Simon hinted?! Another thing I guess we need to try is what would happen if some of the user created sheets that have been published to the community are approved to become Base Sheets? Will there be then a difference between the copy the developer has and the published app?

Thanks again for taking the time to respond,

Cheers,

Luis

Hi,

I'm trying to get my head around the maintenance of published apps... We have QS Enterprise June2017.

Let's say

I have published an app

Users in the published app create their own sheets for that app, create and even publish to the community of the app, create bookmarks and stories, etc.

I've read that the only way I can make changes is to have my own copy of the app and sort of republish the app, but what would happen with all the stuff that users have created?

So far we haven't needed this because everything goes to a mashup but that will be changing soon and we'll start using the QS Hub...

Many thanks for your feedback and guidance!

Cheers,

Luis

Hi Luis,

When you publish an app replacing the existing app in the stream, it keeps the same app ID, so all user created objects stored in the repository for that app remain.

Cheers,

Simon
