Hello,

There is no automatic backup feature implemented in Qlik Sense. This backup needs to be done manually (or via script)

Regarding your question, yes the QVF files are stored in the Shared persistence file share but for the QVD files, it depends since you have the choice to store them elsewhere. You will need to check with your developers where they store and load their QVDs from.

Finally please note that the archived logs folder is also stored in the Shared Persistence file share and this folder can be very large depending on how long you have been running your environment. So you might want to exclude or reduce the number of logs in this folder before backing up.

If you want to know where this Shared Persistence file share is, you can go into QMC -> Service Cluster and check the location for the Root folder

All the steps to back up certificates, repository database and Shared Persistence file share are described here.

Hope this helps!

Hello Qlikkies,

We have April 2018 version of Qlik Sense enterprise.

Reading the back-up and restore notes on Qlik Help: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense/April2018/Subsystems/PlanningQlikSenseDeployments/Content/Deployment/Backup-and-restore.htm

It says:

To backup a Qlik Sense site, you must back up the following:

Qlik Sense certificates

Qlik Sense repository database

Shared persistence file share

Does this mean things such as the Qlik Sense QVF files and QVD files are automatically backed up too if I back up the three bullet points above?

Hi Bastien,

What does it mean "in the Shared persistance" file share? Is this a folder on the Server with maybe some other sub-folders where QVF files etc is stored?

The file share that was mentioned is the shared folder that you defined when installing Qlik Sense (assuming that you are not still on a very early version). It's the folder that contains the subfolders "Apps", "ArchivedLogs", "CustomData" and "StaticContent".

You will find this path by going to the Qlik Management Console and selecting "Server Cluster" under "Configure System" on the left pane.
