does proxy service need CPU power?

Hey,
Earlier we had dedicated proxy node. All traffic, including customer traffic, goes through that node.
Now we take the node to serve development needs. Yesterday there were couple of times, CPU usage reached 100% for couple of minutes.
What is the impact to proxy service? Will customer traffic be disturbed or delayed due to high CPU usage?
We currently has only 8 CPUs in that node. Adding more CPU means restarting the node, means additional business downtime.
That's why I want to understand how big risk this is. Hopefully we can survive end of this month.

Hello!

Generally speaking the Qlik Sense Proxy service does not consume lots of CPU. However, if your machine is running 100% CPU during several minutes, the requests handled by the Proxy will either be very slow to be processed or will even failed.

In your use case, it would probably be better to have a dedicated engine for development purpose.
