How do I use a Data Folder other than c:\ProgramData

Hi There,

I want to put all of my Qlik data into a folder other than c:\ProgramData\Qlik.

Ie: I need to use d:\Qlik

I can change the location of my Apps folder but not of every thing else.

Is it possible?

And there steps to change Work Folder sense server:

Go to C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Engine and Open Settings.ini

Add these lines in the file:

[Settings 7]

DocumentDirectory=C:\qv

Remember to have an emty line below otherwise the settings won't apply

Restart the Qlik Sense Engine Service

If you want to move you already created apps you need to move them manually

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for the reply but I want to move the whole folder.

I have already followed your suggestion for moving the Apps.

I don't want to keep Application data (ie log files etc) on my c drive.

initially did not understand the question. I think you can try to resolve this issue create a link to this directory with the other places on the disk. if you want move app folder in another drive, u can't use hrad link, But U can attach volume as "path" not are Letter.

example

you have two drive C and D

create in drive C folder "BigDate"

go to "comuter managment"

mount drive D as path c:\bigdata

create link mklink

or use this command

mklink /j "c:\mklink" "d:\mkfolder"

Hi John - I am assuming you mean the full Qlik Sense platform and not Qlik Sense Desktop, correct?

The logging in Qlik Sense can be set up to produce customized logging as an addition to the default logging.

To set up customized logging, create a local configuration file named LocalLogConfig.xml in the %ProgramData%\Qlik\Sense\<Service>\ folder.

The following requirements must be fulfilled for the customized logging to function properly:

The local configuration file must conform to the XML schema described in XML schema for the local configuration file because the Qlik Sense Repository Service (QRS), Qlik Sense Proxy Service (QPS), and Qlik Sense Scheduler Service (QSS) have built-in schema validation. If the local configuration file is not accepted by the services, an error is logged in the System log.
The size of the local configuration file must not exceed 1 MB.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is the Server that I am working with.

However I would like to move all the default log files to the new location not just custom log files.

The local configuration file can be used to set up the logging so that the log files are also stored in another location.

Mike, I am sure this gives a lot of flexibility but most of us just need a simple way to point Sense to a new location of Log folder like it was with QlikView. There really should be a simple text box with file path in Sense QMC. Same with Data App folder - it was very confusing that Working App folder in QMC is not the same thing as Data App folder.

I am sure this will change in newer releases as the product matures.

I too want to relocate the c:/ProgramData/qlik and QlikTech directories OFF the C Drive

This discussion evolved in to off loading the log files to a different location, do you want to just reconfigure the log location or - do you want to move everything? Log file locations for Qlik Sense can be configured in the QMC.

@Steve and word on safely moving the Qlik folder? - I assume with the new repository in Qlik Sense this may break something if not done correctly.

I have installed and reinstalled many times

I have done it as a custom central install and set the install location as for my F Drive and I get partial installs on both the F Drive and the C Drive
