Create own authentication module

Hi all!

I have read documentation, but can't completely understand authentication. In my case I have two "group" of users: internal (Active Directory) and external. There are no problem with authentication with AD for internal users. But I don't know how to authenticate external users.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I can add external users through 'qmc -> User directory connector'.
Added users is not into AD (good).
For added users I should write my own authentication module (for example with ticket Authentication method). For this I should export certificate from 'qmc -> Certificates' and added it to a machine where my authentication method will be located.

Is it correct or I am completely wrong? Is where any simpler solution?
