Is using Qlik Sense extensions are good practice?

Recently I moved working from Qlikview to Qlik Sense and I required to use more extensions since we have limitations in QS.

Is using extensions are recommended by Qlik? Looks like we need to download and use from third-party GitHub or Qlik Branch and I saw few drawbacks like upgradation issues.

ny suggestion or solutions on this please?

Hello! In general extensions

- are not supported in the Cloud

- QS Desktop users have to install them as well in order to use the app

- have several bugs and/or upgrade issues

- are not supported by Qlik directly

However, in their statement of direction Qlik mentions they plan to work with partners to provide certified, enterprise ready extensions that meet all quality, security, functionality, and maintainability criteria. I also read that enabling extensions in the Cloud is coming sooner than later. Good times.

Hi Sam,

Yes it wont be a problem if you use extensions that are secure. But if it really worries you wait for some time as Qlik is now working on extensions in cloud as Ivan said.
