as you can see from the photo, after applying a filter, no button is visible that allows you to return to the display dashboard

You may want to open a support ticket. I feel this may be related to the specific underlying Qlik Sense Enterprise server version (a software defect). And that issue was resolved with the next version. But it will need further examination.
