What versions of PostgreSQL does Qlik Sense support?

All up-to-date information regarding PostgreSQL compatibility with supported Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows versions can be found in the System Requirements of the respective release.

This article only documents older and out-of-support Qlik Sense versions.

Older Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows Versions and what PostgreSQL versions they support:

Sense May 2021 is compatible with PostgreSQL 9.6.x, 11.x and 12.5 (included)

Sense February 2021 PostgreSQL 9.6.x (included in the installer), 11.x (not included in the installer), 12.x (not included in the installer, must not be used with Centralized logging )
Sense February to November 2020 is compatible with PostgreSQL 9.6.x (included), 11.x
Sense November 2019 is compatible with PostgreSQL 9.6.x (included), 11.x
Sense September 2017 is compatible with PostgreSQL version 9.6.x
Sense June 2017 is compatible with PostgreSQL version 9.6.x
Sense 3.2 is compatible with PostgreSQL version 9.3.x and 9.6.x
Sense 3.1 is compatible with PostgreSQL version 9.3.x

Verify the version used:

This method only applies to bundled installs. If you have installed PostgreSQL separately, verify the version using for example the installed programs in Windows.

Open Windows Explorer
Navigate to your install directory of Qlik Sense:

C:\Program Files\Qlik\Sense\Repository\PostgreSQL

This is the default path. You may have changed the install drive.
The version listed here is the version used by Qlik Sense.

Just a quick note - when using Centralized logging, another copy of Devart library is used. And when I was checking that few months ago (09-10/2020), it was (surprisingly) other than the one used in Repository. Unfortunately, much older.

@Andre_Sostizzo is this "as expected"?

While I cannot give you a set estimate on when, I can confirm that we are actively validating 15 (and then to follow 16). Keep an eye on the release notes and our announcements.

would be useful to have this updated with a table of

QS Version | default Postgre on fresh install | Supported Versions

- Starting from the versions that used/supported version 12
- for simplicity only listing postgre 12 as 12.x and 14 as 14.x

Thank you for your feedback! To prevent outdated information to collect in a table in this article, it was previously rewritten to only document older and out-of-support Qlik Sense versions. Up-to-date information on PostgreSQL compatibility on current versions can be found directly on the System Requirements for that version.

I will, however, review what we can do to create a reliable table.

Could you please confirm if that means that April 2020 is not compatible with PostgreSQL version 12.x or later ?
