This article explains how to use the "Recover a soft-deleted analytics application" template. For information on how to access templates, see Using templates.

When an Analytics Application older than 45 minutes is deleted from Qlik Cloud, it isn't removed immediately. It's soft-deleted first and held for a limited retention window before being permanently purged. Until that purge happens, the app can still be recovered. This template gives admins a self-service way to find and restore those apps without needing to dig through audit events by hand.

How it works

The automation scans the Qlik Cloud audit log for apps that have been soft-deleted but not yet hard-deleted, and presents them as a simple picker:

It looks up soft-deleted app events within a configurable time window. This is set to 14 days to align with the system limit; you can reduce this for busy tenants to speed up load times.
It cross-checks against hard-deleted app events, so anything already purged is excluded.
For each remaining app, it checks whether the app already exists. If it does, it's already been recovered and will not be included in the list.
It looks up the space name, space type, and the display name of the user who deleted the app, and lists everything in a table: app ID, app name, space, deleting user, and expected purge date.
You pick an app from the list and click Recover. The automation calls the Restore Analytics App endpoint and confirms the result.

If you don't select an app and click Recover, the automation simply confirms no action was taken. Nothing is changed.

Using the template and requirements

You'll need permissions to restore apps in the relevant space(s), and be a TenantAdmin (or another user with access to the audit service).
The template relies on the Qlik Cloud Services connector, which authenticates as your user.
Click Run to start the interactive template; no configuration is needed.

Notes and limitations

Only apps that are soft-deleted and not yet purged can be recovered. Once an app is hard-deleted, it's gone for good and won't appear in this list.
Recovery restores the app itself; it doesn't restore any external references (for example, embedded content elsewhere pointing to the old app) - this feature is for disaster recovery only.
This template is intended for manual, on-demand use by an admin. If you want a proactive alert whenever an app is soft-deleted, consider pairing this with a scheduled or event-triggered notification automation.
