article After importing data to the target using Gold Client, a “duplicate record” error occurs when creating data. Why? in Official Support Articles

What typically causes this result is that the new data you are trying to create already exists in one of the tables with the same key and so a conflict occurs in the database.

The root cause is due to the fact that the current number in your source system’s number range interval is higher than the current number in your target system’s number range interval. This is not unusual since data in your source system (generally Prod) will typically outpace the amount of data generated in all non-Prod systems and thus the current numbers will be higher. Note: the 'current number' (sometimes referred to as the 'number status') represents the last assigned numbers within the given range.

The solution is this:
(1) Use the Client Exporter and Client Importer functions to copy the master data type named NUMBER RANGES. This action will synchronize the Number Ranges table (NRIV) between the source and target so that the current numbers are equal.
(2) Execute the Gold Client Number Range utility in the target. This action will increase the current number for all of your team's number range objects so that they are higher than the current number in the source. Having the numbers set higher in the target means that new data can be created higher in the range and subsequently avoid this duplicate records issue due to data that has been copied previously from the source into the target.
