Amazon (AWS) FSx for Windows File Server is a Windows-based system, so it should behave like any other Windows file share.

Note: Qlik Sense supportability is not related to if file storage is tested by Qlik, it is decided by of the storage solution complies to Qlik requirements. If the file storage does not function properly, it is primarily a support issue for the storage solution provider.

Qlik Sense site, a file share is used to the store the binary application data including data models and the app content. It can be located on any one of the nodes in the Qlik Sense site or on a dedicated server for better resilience and performance.

In order for Amazon FSx for Windows File Server to be a suitable file share solution, it must comply with the Qlik Sense file share requirements. Below are some notes on the key requirement, but please refer to Qlik Sense on Windows Help: Persistence storage for the exact requirements for your deployed Qlik Sense release.

Network latency
Storage instance and Qlik Sense instance must typically be co-located on the same availability zone to gain the required low latency.

File Share Protocol
Qlik Sense supports native Windows Server storage and SMB3.0 as file share protocol, which means that storage solution must be fully compliant with the same protocol to function properly with Qlik Sense.

Network Bandwidth
Network speed must be fast enough to manage moving the required data between storage and Qlik Sense instances.
