QlikView documents are automatically associated to open in QlikView when you double-click on a file with the extension .QVW.
If different versions of QlikView are installed on the same machine, the file-association may not point to the latest QlikView version, i.e. when double-clicking a .qvw file, it may still open in QlikView 11 even though QlikView 12 is installed.

Resolution:

NOTE: You must exercise caution when using the Registry Editor. It is possible to cause damage with the Registry Editor that cannot be repaired, and that may in extreme cases render your system unusable, requiring that you reinstall your system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk!

The below steps are based on Windows 7:

Launch regedit.exe

Locate HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\QlikView.Document\shell\open\command

Alter the Default value to reflect which qv.exe should be associated with .qvw file-extension
Example: F:\Applications\Qliktech\QlikView\11.00.11154\64\qv.exe "%1"

Close regedit.exe

Launch Windows Explorer

Right-click a .qvw file and select Open With...

Select QlikView in Recommended Programs and make sure "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is checked.

Press OK
