Metadata folder is not in Repository

Just installed Version: 5.5.1 Build id: r118616-20140617-1117 on windows 7 64 bit machine. Java version 1.7.0_51.
Created new project. the work space folder has the following:
Java
JETEmitters
.metadata
TRELLIS
where TRELLIS is the project name.
I need to make connection to Oracle database and test it make sure it works. Documentation describes using Metatadata folder but don't see it in repository. Help please!!

metadata folder you will find inside your project folder

I checked all over, and I do not have Metadata in the project

I don't know if it's the same problem but you normally have a metadata folger in your repository (Talend studio)
Do a fresh install of the Talend studio.
