Yet another ETL comparison: Kettle vs Talend:
http://www.robertomarchetto.com/www/talend_studio_vs_kettle_pentao_pdi_comparison
In my opinion Talend is a reliable company, with reliable data integration solutions and having java as etl output is a good thing to developers.
Pentaho Kettle is somewhat simpler because has less features and is focused only to etl, not to data integration to the whole.
Discussing about performances i never had performance issues with Talend (by now) even working with very big data sources. The biggerst problem were always related to database / web services performances, no by the etl tool itself.

Hi!
Could you explain me the differences between:
- Talend
vs BO Data Integrator (
or an other software)?
- Talend
vs Pentaho Data Integration (aka Kettle) ?

Maybe there are documents (in French if possible! 😉 on Talend web site that I didn't find?

When I said "Talend", I would like a comparison including "TOS" (community version)
and "TIS"!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Maybe I can help you...but I haven't the best answer.
Open Studio and Kettle are ETL. Kettle is provided by Pentaho, Open Studio by Talend.
TOS is open source (you can buy ticket for hotline, nevertheless), TIS provides professional support (you sign a contract with additional services).
That can help you : http://fr.talend.com/professional-support/support.php#accessUpgrades
Regards,

Talend has large number of components while Pentaho has smallest number of components. In Talend, with the design tool build the Jobs, using the set of components available while in Pentaho with design tool built Spoon transformations (minimum design level) using the steps.

Talend is best for open studio applications. Some applications specifically suit to Kettle although very few.

hello,
I think that the comparison is very tight ,
I used them both and i think at the end of the day , you can do the same
with both of them.
its all comes to the questions with which tool you started,
if you want to learn more about
pentaho kettle then you can get an online course
or if you want to read about it - you have a list of
pentaho kettle materials
either way i think you cant get it wrong when working with each one of these
good luck

Difference between Talend & Pentaho is " Metdata Driven ETL" (Metadata injetion) which is not supported by Talend.
Rest of the differences are achievable.
