This posting could be used as an overall guide with all the options that are available. <BR />Option 1: (Using ODBC) <BR />------------------------------------ <BR />when trying to connect to free tables or a FoxPro database container (dbc files); you can use the Generic ODBC connection in talend. First install the correct and latest Visual FoxPro drivers. At the time of this post, here is the latest link to the microsoft ODBC drivers: <BR /> <A href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vfoxpro/bb190233.aspx" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vfoxpro/bb190233.aspx</A> <BR />then using the "Data Sources (ODBC)" wizard inside the administrative tools on windows create an ODBC connection to the FoxPro table using the 'Free tables' option. You can browse to any foxpro table in your directory. later the talend will read all the other tables inside the directory. <BR />Then in talend you can create a "Metadata"-&gt;DB Connection to with ODBC settings to the connection that you just created. <BR />Note: we will be working on adding the possibility of connecting to a FoxPro database file (.dbc files) on top of the free tables (.dbf files) that are supported currently. <BR />Option 2: (Using JDBC) <BR />------------------------------------ <BR />If you like to use JDBC to connect to FoxPro, there are many third party vendors that provide JDBC drivers for FoxPro. Amongst these, there are 2 good options: <BR />1. Stels: <A href="http://www.csv-jdbc.com/stels_dbf_jdbc.htm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://www.csv-jdbc.com/stels_dbf_jdbc.htm</A> <BR />this seems to be a pretty cheap solution. the also have an open-source version that is limited to 1000 rows per select statement. Although this solution does not surrently seem to support the latest visual fox pro format. <BR />2. Recital: <A href="http://www.recital.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://www.recital.com</A> <BR />This the preferred option if you are really serious about giving your foxpro files a valid database environment, and processing good amount of data. Although this is a bit more pricy option, it acts as a database server to FoxPro files with transactional support, etc .... <BR />you will be able to use the generic JDBC connectors with both of these solutions.
