Build Jobs not responding Windows Server 2012 after job import from macOs

Hello there,

I've been trying to build a job into a standalone zip for couple of times but i'm being stuck.

My environment :

- Talend Open Studio for Big Data6.3.1

- Windows Server 2012 R2

- java version "1.8.0_121"

- Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_121-b13)

- Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.121-b13, mixed mode)

Solutions tried :

- I've checked that my Java JRE point to the JDK

Parameters JDK

- I've tried to "Quick Fix" my maven

- I've checked the "Update Maven projects on startup"

Error / Problem :

When I build my project, i always reach the "Building Process" step but then the build job windows is "Not Responding" then crash/disappear without generating anything. Here is a screen capture of my Problems windows :

All of this has been done on a fresh downloaded ToS with the big data demo project and i was trying to build the job "GenerateWebLogFile".

Do you have any idea why i have this kind of error ?

Hi bonadav,

Have you ever executed your jobs successfully in your studio Talend Open Studio for Big Data 6.3.1? Did you install your studio completely?

Does this issue repro on all your jobs or a specific job? Can you run a simple job, such as: tfileinputxxx-->tlogrow in your studio to see if it works well?

Hi xdshi,

All my jobs are working perfectly.

What do you mean by install your studio completely ? I downloaded and run the .exe files.

It affects all jobs.

So i did a test job lile this :

But when I export/build i have the same behaviour, i succeed to do a screenshot of the fast closing build popup :

Hi,

Does this issue repro on your other computer? Is there any error message in your log which is located in <Talend Studio installation path>/workspace/.metadata/.log?

Hi, yes i had a few, i didn't know there was a log file

First I figured out that my path contains space that i removed,

Then I saw that some download URL wasn't accessible (maybe because i'm in china) si I activated the VPN and it disappears.

Now i have those errors left upon the build :

Hi,

It seems the studio shut down incorrectly.

Could you please re-install product in a short path(D:\) without any special characters, such as blank space to see if it works?

So I did what you advice and it reduced considerably the number of error put still i have some.

In the error panel i still have one routine error, when i click on it, I have a java.lang.nullPointerException:

Then i realised i have this routine file without and i can't delete it.

Hello,

We cannot repro your problem on V 6.3.1.

Are you installing jdk 1.8 instead of jre 1.8? Are you behind proxy? Can you build your job successfully in your new studio?

Yes i can succesfully run a job.

And here i correctly setup again the JDK.

Also i don't have proxy on my network, I usually connect through a socks vpn but i deactivated it for the test.

If i imported a job created from macOs, do you think it could explain this error ?

No it's from all jobs,

Maybe the workspace is corrupted with macOs files that i mixed up by importing it on my windows server..

Because on a blank proper install on D:/ it's working perfectly (creating a .zip archive) but when i import my workspace, it's not working anymore.

One shot i could try is :

Copy one by one all my jobs in a new workspace, (if there is no other solutions i'll).

PS : i really don't understand what is this lost routine under "system" directory (a macOs generated file i guess?).

How are you importing your jobs from your Mac workspace? Are you exporting them from the Mac and importing them on your current workspace?

Hi,

Could you please try these steps?

1. Back up the workspace.
2. Delete the workspace and restart the studio.
3. Import all items from the backup of workspace done in step1.

Let us know if it is Ok with you.

You're right, it was the problem.

I did :

1. Clean install of new ToS

2. Export Jobs + Routines (except the buggy one) from the old ToS

3. Import it in the new ToS
