in Which scenarios do we need to use it

depending on the database you're connecting to there may be the need to pass additional information beyond the standard jdbc connection fields host/port/database/schema/user/password. One example of this is for MSSQL, often you need to define a specific "instance". To add this information to the connection string, you would add "instance=myInstance" in the additional jdbc parameters. If additional parameters are required for your specific database, you'll be able to find how exactly to define them in the database documentation.
