There is no alternative component. Talend has moved the support of the EBCDIC format into the Data Mapper.
The Data Mapper is a part of the Enterprise product Data Services.
But you can still work with the tFileInputEBCDIC or tFileOutputEBCDIC components, only you have to install them from Talend Exchange.

How to install tFileInputEBCDIC component/module ?

I'd like to use tFileInputEBCDIC to read ebcidic data in TOS for Big Data , but it does not show up in the palette or in the modules. I've tried both 5.3.1 and 5.4.1 and don't see it, however looking in the directories on disk I see some files eg tFileInputEBCDIC_messages_pl.properties, tFileInputEBCDIC_begin.javajet , FileInputEBCDIC_messages_en.properties etc
that suggests that the component(module ?) exists, just none with a .java extension which I assume is required to be able to add it.
How can I add it to the palette ?
Thanks for any input

I would say, currently this component could hardly work in the Open Studio for BigData because this component depends on a metadata structure. You need to create a metadata structure based on the copybook file to work with the related ebcdic file.

The tFileInputEBCDIC component is available in the trial version but says at least one external jar needs to be installed. So after I click the Install button, it pops up a window with a list of jars that are required, but the 'Download and install all modules available' button is greyed out ie I cannot select it. The License, More information and Action columns are all blank.
How do I download the module ?
Regards
