Does tmap reference & input link needs to be sorted?

when using tmap as lookup whether the data coming in from reference and input links needs to be sorted before the lookup process? I tried it with a small dataset i'm not finding any difference?

any inputs?

Your question is not clear. Can you please elaborate more details on that?

Input and lookup flows do not need to be sorted. The underlying code uses hashes, which have very fast lookup times.
