Hi Eric
CDC technique was introduced in Oracle 9i version onwards, hence Talend CDC does not support the source of the CDC is oracle 8i.

Hi,
The scenario is like this:
The source is Oracle 8i, and want to use the log technique (Not the trigger) for this CDC implementaion, using the LogMiner utility of the DB. The target DB would be MS SQL Server 2008. Would this be possible, out of the box (since it is two different DBs)?
Kind regards,
Eric

Hi Eric
You are able to choose 'Log mode' option when you create the Oracle CDC. see my screenshot.

Thanks for the reply Shong.
But how does Talend CDC does it? I mean, does it uses the LogMiner? Hope you have a sample demo for this. Also, as I've mentioned, does it support the source of the CDC is Oracle 8i and the target db is MS SQL Server out of the box?
Kind regards,

Hi Shong,
Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
So the Trigger is the best suited technique for Oracle 8i. How about the Oracle to MS SQL CDC implementation, will these be done out of the box?
Many thanks,
Eric

Hi
CDC implementation is applied to the source database, Oracle is the source database in your case. What do you mean out of the box?

Since my target db (MS SQL) is different from the source (ORACLE), can it convert SQL statement coming from ORACLE (may have oracle specific SQL) to MS SQL accepted sql statement?

Hi
There are different components for different database type, for example, tMSSQLOutput is used to execute MS SQL sql statement for inserting, updating and deleting, tOracleInput, tOracleCDC is used to query records from Oracle database. There is a middle type for converting db type from one to one in Talend, hence don't care for the converting of SQL statement.
Best regards

Hello all
I am new to talend. I have a scenario.. I want to load data from flat file to Oracle database incrementally.
(e.g I have 10 rows in flat file in initial load all 10 records are inserted.
(Now source flat file) 5 rows are added to flat file , now it has 15 rows.
If we run the Job again we need to insert newly added rows only (to database).
How to achieve this....
Thanks & Regards
