Hi all,

we need to install two talend on premise instance on the same server. So we try to install two remote engine (A and B) and two runtime (C and D). Is it possibile to do? If yes, is it possibile to connect A remote engine to C runtime and B remote engine to D runtime?

best regards,
Viktor

Hello,

Are they the same version or not? Could you please give us more information about your background?

Best regards

Hi Sabrina,

we would like to use same version. We develop services in talend for integration pruposes.
We plan to build environments for development stages: for development (DEV), for system integration testing (SIT). We have only one server where we need to "implement" these environments.
As we see, we need two runtimes for fullfill our goal. We plan to deploy the services via remote engines and TMC, so it seems we need two remote engines as well -this is just a guess- to connect the TMC and the rumtimes.

best regards,
Viktor

Hi Viktor,

I would recommend to have separate servers for different environments. Please refer the reference architecture details for recommended sizing and server layout.

https://talendpnp.github.io/architecture-center/reference-architecture/summer-2018-7.0/products/commercial/platform/talend-data-management-platform/index

It is a very common mistake done by many customers to save the server cost at the beginning of the project by adding everything to a single server. This means that it will not adhere to recommended server size for Talend environments and it will start showing sub optimal performance and issues.

It also means that during the time of performance testing, it will not yield right performance results since its a shared environment. Once the project is in full swing, it will be too hectic to rearrange the items as too many development and testing related dependencies will come into picture.

So it is better to have a clean slate from the beginning by allocating servers for your various environments so that you will have better control of the environments in future.

Warm Regards,
Nikhil Thampi

Please appreciate our Talend community members by giving Kudos for sharing their time for your query. If your query is answered, please mark the topic as resolved 🙂

Hi Nikhil Thampi,

okay, I see, thanks you explanations and the suggestion. I guess we can save time to separate the env in different machines.

Thanks!

best regards,
Viktor
