Dynamic XML schema definition

I have a requirement to pull records from a database, which depending on the query sent, will pull different a XML format stored within one of the columns. The XML schema for that particular set of queried records is the same. My idea is to have a mapping table to look up which will return the appropriate XML schema definition that needs to be applied to all rows from my main query.

Can xml schema definition be applied dynamically in this manner? It would not change on a row by row basis, and would be the same for all rows on a particular query
