I have the same issue on a Windows XP machine. I've executed the Run.bat file in the JBoss server directory. It echos the variables JAVA, JBOSS_HOME, ClassPath and JAVA_OPTS then prints "Usage: Java" and lists Java options. The variables appear to be pointing to the correct paths. JAVA_OPTS has a long list and it is difficult for me to determine if they are correct. The list is below.
When the server is not running or I choose the wrong localhost
ort I receive a 404 error. When it is running I receive ...
"HTTP transport error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
HTTP transport error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect"
... error after it starts loading MDM Server Objects. User Name=admin, password=talend, server=http://localhost:28080/talend/TalendPort (I have a different app on 8080 and the MDM install chose this port for me).
Any help is appreciated.

Hello,
I have defined a data model in Talend MDM perspective. When I try to define it in talend designer, I can't retrieve it under the MDM connection. I try with two different user and profile definition but I never find it.
I use Talend MDM Enterprise edition version 4.0.3.
I forget something ? Or It's the wrong method ? I follow the excercise book from the roadshow. It's there a mistake ?

In my installation the C:\TalendMDM\jboss-4.2.2.GA\jboss-4.2.2.GA\run.bat simply calls the C:\TalendMDM\jboss-4.2.2.GA\bin\run.bat. It is the one in the \bin\ directory that needs to have the lines commented out. I don't know why you would only have the one run.bat. Maybe there another Jboss install on the machine?

Hi
I had same problem but solved by two things.

1.set jdk file to "System" environment variables ( I was set "User" environment variables ).
2.Don't create Jboss files under C:\Program Files\ (when double click "run.bat", creating some folder and files. For creating needed "Admin" rights there)

Thanks,Hata
I had the issue, and the above solution resolved my problem, Thanks
Having the same problem in a slightly different environment:
XP SP3 VM on Mac OS X
4.2.2 CE
MDM Server starts up automatically after the VM boots, and I can connect to the Web UI at http://localhost:8180/talendmdm as user/user and administrator/administrator.
I've commented out the lines in run.bat as described above, and rebooted.
I've also got JAVA_HOME defined as C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_26\jre in a user variable.
When I try to create a new MDM Server in the MDM Studio UI with a server address of http://localhost:8080/talend/TalendPort (the default) as admin/talend, I keep getting the following error:
HTTP transport error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
HTTP transport error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
Any ideas?

Hi simon_w_day,
Check the port : your server is bound on localhost:8180 whereas you try to reach localhost:8080 in the Studio.
Regards,
Cyril.
Hello.
I was able to start the MDM studio (version 4.2) and followed the tutorial to add MDM server and encountered the login problem described in this thread.
I was able to solve it by changing the port in the add MDM server location dialog from 8080 to 8180.
Also applies for the MDM console http://localhost:8180/talendmdm/secure/
Thank you for the advice!
