We have Talend Enterprise Data Integration, Version 5.2.1, and want to upgrade to the current version.
Where can we find the upgrade instructions?
Will we have to rebuild every job and schedule in the new version?

You will find the upgrade information in the installation guide. Please note, the upgrade means the existing installation will be replaced by a new release.

You should not need to rebuild all your jobs or reschedule them, but jumping three versions up - current version being 5.5.1 - may require some assistance as some functionalities may have evolved quite a bit, depending on your usage.
Have you got in touch with our sales rep to evaluate your upgrade path?
Elisa

hi all,
as suggested, the migration of your job is nearly transparent

... but as any migration you have to look for any regressions.
regards

My typical customers does not allow to simply update the current installation without a fallback way. Usually we install Talend from scratch new and migrate task by task into the new environment. It is a matter of reliability for the production. Nobody wants to risk a major failure.

+1 about fallback way !
it's very important to be able to back to an older version (following talend migration or new release).

Simply speaking the way is:
1. install new release and check the environment with small test jobs and probably used user components
2. Export a project and import it in the new installation (Studio Item Export + Import)
3. Build new tasks (for larger amount of task we have written Talend jobs for copying the tasks).
4. Disable a task in the old environment and active it in the new environment
Hint NEVER ever make a clone from an existing installation and update it. Because there are a lot of references to the server this usually causes a lot of problems and loss of data!
