Hi all

Where do we create Dimension and Measure tags? How are they useful?

You can tag your fields in the load script, using the command 'tag field [fieldname] with ' Tag text';

They can be useful if you want the users of your document to see these tags when creating their own charts.

you can tag the fields in the document properties under the tables tab.

Hi,

it is more like a visual aid for users, in case they want/need to create new objects (visualizations, listboxes, etc), so they know which fields are dimensions and which are metrics. After tagging your fields, whenever a user wants to add a new field/listbox to the sheet, they'll see with different colors metrics and dimensions.

In QV Desktop/IE Plugin is more evident because dimensions appear at the top in gray (above cyclic/drill groups). However, in Ajax, you need to put the pointer over the field you need to know about, and then you'll see the tags associated to that field (either Metric, Dimensions, or anything else),
