Hi guys,

How are the differences between the Pivot and the Straight table?

Hi,

Following are differences in

Straight Table	Pivot Table	Table box
Subtotals is not possible in Straight table.	In a pivot table, expressions can be "rolled up" with subtotals (using the Show Partial Sums setting).	No expressions available. SoSub Totals is not possible.
Interactive sorting of Dimensions is possible.	Interactive sorting of Dimensions is not possible.	Interactive sorting is possible.
It is not possible to drilldown to a deeper level, duplicate values are displayed.	It is possible to drilldown (grouping) to a deeper level by clicking on expand icons.	Drilldown is not possible.
Pivoting is not possible.	A cross-table (pivoting) is possible by dragging dimensions to the top of the header row.	Pivoting is not possible
It is possible to set any of the Total modes like Expression Total and Sum of Rows.	It is not possible to set the Total Mode, by default it uses the Expression Total.	Totalling is not available.
Dimension Limits tab is available for this.	Dimension Limits is not available.	Not available.
Accumulation of values is possible.	Accumulation of values is not possible directly, you have to write separate expressions.	Accumulation of values is not possible.

Few more differences:

In straight table, relative sum (which shows %age wrt to total) of the expression is possible which is not available with Pivot table.
We could use 'mini charts' in Straight table but not in Pivot.
