LDAP connections 101

I am trying to use the OLE DB Provider for Microsoft Directory Services.

Background info: I am able to connect to the ADAM (now called Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services I think) database on my machine using ADSI Edit, a front end tool for Active Directory. The path is: LDAP://localhost:11389/ou=comp,ou=qlik,o=ag (which matches the QEMC LDAP address) and I am using the credentials:

username: CN=CompassSearch,ou=comp,ou=qlik,o=ag

password: password

I wanted to establish that this worked, because I am now trying to connect with Qlikview on the same machine. With LDAP as my Data Source, that same path as my location, and the same username and password as above I get the string:

OLEDB CONNECT32 TO [Provider=ADsDSOObject;User ID="CN=CompassSearch,ou=comp,ou=qlik,o=ag";Encrypt Password=False;Data Source=LDAP;Location="LDAP://localhost:11389/ou=comp,ou=qlik,o=ag";Mode=Read;Bind Flags=0;ADSI Flag=-2147483648] (XPassword is eBPaCYFMTbcOXXJOETGA);

However, when I go to select tables, Qlikview shows none for me to select. Furthermore, I can't tell if I am doing this correctly because I can type in anything I want into the fields Qlikview gives me for the Microsoft Directory Services provider and the test connection succeeds! ..(see bottom picture) but there are also no tables shown.

I have looked at some other LDAP forums like this http://community.qlik.com/thread/22398 but I feel like I should not even start with any fancy macros until I connect to the data source. I'm in over my head on this, does anyone have any advice for me? Thanks so much.

Any information is helpful. To start small, are you guys experiencing the same phenomenon with the test connection always working?

Hi,

The QVW which tries to load the data from LDAP loads only the partial data frequently. We are unable to find the root cause of the issue as the QVW doesn't fails but it loads only the partial data.Can someone please help us to identify the root cause of the issue. It has been happening from quite a long time but we didn't succeed in finding the root cause of the issue. Hope someone can help us for the same.
