Pass current selection to another qvw via macro

Am new to Qlikview. I have requirement like, I am having filters/Check boxes at one qvw and based on the selection of this, another qvw should be filtered out. so, am trying to pass the current selection of 1st report to another. Could any one help please?

Don't use a macro for this but an Open Qlikview Document action and enable the option Transfer State. You can use a button or text box to execute such an action by defining the action on the Actions tab of the objects properties window.

Sakthi - Please look for Document Chaining threads in QlikCommunity. It will address your requirements. Remember, you need to make sure the fields (on selection) that you wish to pass from Report #1 to Report #2 are same when using Document chaining.

As gwassenaar has said, this does not need a macro but can be done using standard functionality within Actions.

In most cases macros should be ignored or only considered as a last resort in QlikView.

You have to be careful while document chaining as it is best practices to disable binary loads for security purposes.

Thanks for all your comments. I have one more query. Like what if I need to reload report #2 based on selection in Report #1? And, users will be accessing this reports via access point. If am reloading the report #2 every time when there is a selection in Report #1, is that possible for multiple users to access my report?

Hi gwassenaar

along with that requirement i need to navigate to the sheets also

like i have 4 sheets in app1 like a1,a2,a3,a4

same sheets are there in app2 a1,a2,a3,a4

now if i am in sheet a2 of app1 and i have done some selecction , my requirement is when i opened app2 from a button it should open sheet a2 with the selection i made in app1.

if i am on sheet1 it should open sheet 1.

i have tried doing this by "open url" action then sheet navigation is coming but not the selections.

if i use the "open document" option selections are passing but i am not able to perform sheet navigation correctly.

Can you please help on this?
