HEy,

I have 6 months exp in Qlikview. I am looking for Qlikview Certification.

Do i need to gain more exp or should i go for certification ??

Nikhil, It depends on how you deeply you involved in QlikView? There is no basic testing system or benchmark which would let us know that one is ready to appear for exam...

All you need is self confidence and knowledge of basic to complex functionality of QlikView..

Scripting... Joins.... UI Chart.... Server and QMC (Basic)...

Go through the QlikView Reference Manual and spend some time everyday for community Question Answer reading..

Which would definitely help...

Where are you working Nikhil?

Is your company teach you Qlikview or you have done any training?

I need experience in Qlikview, I want to learn qlikview in a company environment.

Presently I am learning by my own, but its not sufficient way to learn qlikview and it is too much time taking.

Please guide me.

Before going for certification I advise you, you must at least go through book "Qlikview 11 for Developers".

Hi Nikhil,

For clearing certification you need some realtime experience, because the questions based on that. Did you involved in any client projects?

Take one free databases like AdventureWorks, Northwind for SQL Server and try to implement the Dashboards and try out all the functionalities available in Qlikview various Loads, all functions, all options in charts, some datawarehousing concepts etc.

Once you do this you will get many doubts and you will solve it, on doing this you will gain experience.

Yeah i am trying to make some small applications. But don't have any real time experience on project.

I have learned many things but not most of it. I am still at learning phase. But what i want to ask is does 6 months exp in self learning qlikview can be sufficient for certification ??

I dont ahve Server and Publisher Knowledge.

So i hope in designer and developer certification it is not needed.

Hi Nikhil,

6 months of experience not matters, how much you learn matters. If you gone through all the topics and tried to implement in the Dashboards then you can go for certification. But just reading is not enough.

Self learning or training from experts not matters, what you learn and how you practice is important.

I agree with Jagan & James. I suggest to get some real experience. It helps both knowledge wise and psychologically. Also, you try QlikView Question of the Day on my blog:

Some of the questions are intricate, so don't be disappointed if you get of them wrong. Although, I can learn from them for sure.

You must take real time experience before go for Certification. No matter how confident you feel that you can crack the exam, I would still recommend for you to go through the life cycle of a qlikview project once.

I personally* believe that Certification must not be taken as the first step for any tool, rather they are part of gradual process while working on numerous projects.

One thing surely you can do is Test Yourself before you take a project, by following ways:

1) Blog by Deepak Vadithala: qlikshare.com, as a QQotD. This will increase your practical knowledge and built more confidence.

2) Be very much active on QlikCommunity. Analyze the scenarios posted by members and answers. Try to share your views as well and then see how much inline you were with the correct answer.

3) Create or Innovate something using qlikview.

4) Make qlikview and BI as your passion.

5) Keep reading blogs on qlikview.
