what is forecasting reports? why we create this ? in what kind of situtaions we go for this ?

I think Forecast report is an user defined name for a report which is used for forecasting.

Forecasting means predicting for future based on history.

Example: Amazon wants to predict there sales for next 12 months with the help of their 3 months history of shipments. this is called forecasting for next 12 months.

Forecasting in Qlikview

There is no direct way to forecast in qlikview by selecting an option.

you need to write the logic on how do you want to forecast.

Forecasting- Is to predict what could be the best outcome if you would select any particular activity/value etc.

For eg : If you buy 5apples it would cost you 10rs.

10 apples - 18rs

20 apples - 36rs

Now if you want to know with which quantity of apples you get the highest profit? You put in profit and loss formulae and selct the quantity resp.

These calculations which are done are termed as Forecasting.
