Hi All,

I was reading a pdf about system requirements and confused about two things:

1. For Repository Database, we need to have SQL Server 2005/2008 database. Do we need to buy a separate license for this or is it included in the QlikView license? We have a SQL Server 2005 instance, but it is on a separate server, can we install publisher on ServerA and have the Reposiory Databse on ServerB?

2. If you see the attached document, the first page talk about QlikView and secong page talk about QlikView Server. What is the difference?

Please advice and thanks a ton in advance!

Hi,

this question belongs in the Server community, try there if you don't get your questions answered here.

1. Regarding SQL - I don't think that it's a good idea to have the Publisher installed on one machine and the Repository database running on another machine, even if it's technically possible.

2. If I''m not mistaken, you can always use XML as an alternative to SQL Server for the Repository. Can someone confirm or explain this better? If it still holds true, then you don't need another SQL license.

3. In the data sheet, "QlikView" pertains to the installed QlikView client, or QlikView Developer tool, as opposed to QlikView Server.

good luck!

Oleg

Thanks for your replies,

If SQL Server license is not included and if it's not a good practice to have SQL and Reposiory Databse on different servers, then it implies that we have to buy SQL Server just for QlikView. Doesn't make much sense.

What other options do we have?

I can try it, but am aware of the limitations it put on the size of the Database etc. Moreover, there is no SQL Agent in the Express Edition and I don't even know if SQL Agent is needed for Publisher to do its tasks.
