I am trying to add section access to my qvw, but the document failed inexplicably and for some reason I can't get the document to reload. When I try to remove section access, my document still doesn't reload and it also doesn't generate a logfile (even though I have that box checked in document settings).

I have been reading these forums for days without a solution and I am out of ideas - hopefully someone can help. Here is what I've tried:

1. I made sure that 'Initial Data reduction based on Section Access' is turned off.

2. I've checked the log of the QEMC since a normal logfile isn't generated. It says "Error: Document open call failed. The document might require username and password."

3. I have read the manual on Section Access to make sure that I am doing it right (since that is my long term plan). I have done section access many times before on other dashboards so I know that it's possible and how to do it out of an Excel file using Windows Active Directory.

4. I tried deleting the meta and shared files and restarting the services on the Qlikview Server.

5. I tried making a copy of the document locally and deleting the copy on the server and uploading again, setting up all the job permissions.

At this point I just want to be able to reload the document with or without section access to gain a foothold.

Any ideas?

Hi,

but u can open the file with a local client? or it asks for user and password?

Than have you unchecked the option "Section Access" under "Data protection" in reload setup of that document on the server?

C u,

Stefano.

When I open the file locally it asks for my username and then it will open. So it's somehow keeping the section access intact even though I have commented it out.

The section access under Data Protection is NOT checked (I've never used that - even for my other docs that work with section access).

Good questions. Any other ideas?

Maybe it's stupid, but sometimes it works.

Try to write exit script as first row in your script and reload to flush all data.

After delete that row and reload again.

C u,

Stefano.

That still fails. Basically it looks like the QEMC absolutely can't open the document to even read the script.

I'm not sure there is another way around getting it to open the file. Is it possibly corrupted?
