setting up httpS for Access point

Hi,

We have a Qlikview Server(SBE) setup on a single server and currently the access point is running using the Qlikview Webservice.

Our organization has got the IIS and all the company websites are https.

1. Our Admin team is asking, whether to continue using Qlikview Webservice or stop this service and use IIS? Which is the best option to run secured https?

2. If its better to use Qlikview Webservice, then how to setup https? I mean https://companyname.qlik.com

3. If IIS is better, then how to setup https? I mean https://companyname.qlik.com

There isn't much difference in using IIS or QVWS. There are a few more steps in setting up SSL on QVWS. Below is a document that will show you how to setup SSL with QVWS.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the document. Just a small query. Is it a best practice to use QV Webservice when the organization already got IIS. Our our admin team says to go with qvws, assuming that it is more secure?

QVWS is just as secure as IIS.

Thanks for the clarification. We have decided to use IIS to setup the https. So in order to do that, I assume that I need to stop the Qlikview Webserver service. When I do this the default access point url is not working. I think this is normal behaviour. Am I correct?

Our Admin team is not aware of how to map this detault access point url into IIS and make it https.

Could you please point me to any document, which I can share with the admin team?

Hi Suraj,

Yes, you will have to stop the QVWS to use IIS. If they don't know how to build the virtual folders, then the best thing to do is uninstall QlikView and re-install picking the IIS option.
