There are 13 type of charts are available in Qlikview. Find the attached qlikview document which helps to give you an understanding about the qlikview charts. also provides information about when and where to use which charts.

Yes generally we use 13 types of chart in qlikview . which is explan by the shankarece.

The qvw file which is u upload in that file share sheet u have a water fall chart, bt u have not use any dimension in that chart so plz can u tell me how it is work , I'm unable to understand ...

Plz provide me solution...

A waterfall chart is a type of bar chart used to show a whole value and the breakdown of that
value into other subvalues, all in one chart. We can implement it in QlikView using the Bar
Offset option.

The Bar Offset option for bar charts allows us to calculate the start position for each of the
bars, other than the 0 default value.
We use a Set Analysis expression to easily calculate the values.

Thanks Shankarece for the reply. but here in this qvw file which u r mention water fall chart there is no dimension given so thats why I'm not able to understand that how it is work can u explain me plz....

Chart dimensions may also be calculated from an expression.

You try understanding the basics of chart dimensions and expressions below.

When you create a chart, you should first ask yourself two questions:

What do you want to look at? What should the sizes of the bars in the bar chart correspond to? The answer might be the "sum of sales", or something similar. This is set on the Expressions tab.
What do you want to group it by? Which field values do you want to use as labels for the bars in the bar chart? The answer might be "per country", or something similar. This is set on the Dimensions tab.
A chart can display one or more dimensions. The upper limit depends on the actual chart type, the complexity of the data and the available memory. Pie, line and scatter charts can display a maximum of two dimensions, bar, block and grid charts three. Radar charts can only display a single dimension, and gauge charts use no dimensions at all. A funnel chart typically has one to three dimensions. Further dimensions are ignored.

A chart dimension gets its values from a field which is specified on the Chart Properties: Dimensions page. Instead of being a single field a dimension can also consist of a group of fields (see Edit Groups below).

A dimension can be a single field, a group or an expression (calculated dimension).

Hi, Narasimha.

I recommend you have a look at 'Information Dashboard Design' by Stephen Few. It is not specific to QlikView but it does cover best practices for building dashboards and when and where to use certain types of charts.

That file is included in the QlikView desktop installation. It is one of the example documents located under C:\Program Files\QlikView\Examples\Documents (assuming you installed it to the default location and selected to include examples).
