I'm a bit new to Qlikview, so apologies if this is a stupid question! I have a date field in a master calendar, for which i need linked to 5 or 6 different tables of data.

If I rename the date field so it's the same on each table, I get a huge mess where all the tables are linked to each other. However, I only want each table connecting to the master calendar, not to each other!

How do i do that?

Hey Alex,

You can create a different field in Master calendar for each table. So for example you have three tables 1,2,3 and they each have Date1,Date2, Date3 then in master calendar you could create aliases like Date as Date1, Date as Date2 , Date as Date3.

Hope it was helpful

Thanks

AJ

Thanks. Does that means i also need to create multiple versions of all the relative fields, such as CalendarWeek and CalendarMonthEnd?

Try to get like a star schema...

rename all date fields to a same name....and concatenate all your fact tables if possible, so that you can avoid synthetic keys...

then build your calendar for MIN & MAX date from your fact data...

No.

So what will happen is say if you select MonthYear as Jan-2014 in Master Calendar then all dates in Jan of 2014 in all three tables will be selected.
