Hey guys,

I am part of a 3 person BI Team using QlikView. We have just been tasked with the job of creating a 'Super User Program' for our company. They would like us to put together a training program to teach one person from each department how to use the program. When we went through training we did the free training classes online which are VERY SIMPLISTIC as well as bringing a contractor on sight for the Designer and Developer courses.

Outside of recreating the Designer and Developer Courses does anyone have any tips/suggestions for recommended training?

Second question.... We have been given a list of people that were recommended for the program, in our opinion some of them do not have he basic skills needed to be a successful developer. Does anyone have a list of recommended skills a candidate should have (this could be personal opinions, ideas or even from a job description)?

Thank you for your feedback in advance.

Happy Holidays,

Katie

If you don't already have the Qlikview 11 for Developers book I suggest you get the $5 ebook from Packt Publishing now. That will give you a good idea what the training materials will cover.

And I remembered this discussion which may have some useful information for you: InterView Questions

Kaitlyn

It may be worth while approaching this from the desired End Results, as in:

Define what End Results these Super Users are ultimately expected to achieve, items may / may not include

Use Published Dashboard qvw's ?

Customise existing qvw's via Web Browser / AccessPoint ?

Amend existing qvw's using QV Desktop ?

Create new qvw's from Data Mart qvw's via Binary Load

Create new qvw's from existing qvd's, simple load script

Create new qvw's from existing qvd's, with transformations in load script

Amend existing qvd generators

Create new qvd generators with basic transformations in load script

Create new qvd generators with simple with complex transformations in load script

Create new incremental load qvd generators

When you have an agreed list of desired End Results. I expect you'll have some interesting [heated?] discussions whilst getting agreement on this list from the various parties.

Then you can define:

Skills required to achieve these desired End Results

Compare this for each person to their existing skills to get a Skill<S> Gap Analysis.</S>

Finally when you know what skills these potential Super Users are missing you can then work out how best they should acquire these skills, i.e. define the training program.

I'd suggest you split any training into discrete segments starting with the simplest first, with checkpoints between them to assess where strengths / weaknesses lie.

Best Regards, Bill
