Which chart item will suit?

Hi,

I would like to know which graph suits for below items

a) a graph to show the percentage of reports failed per staffmember (which relates to Id and Outcome only) and

b) a graph to show the amount of fails/passes per type per Staffmember

Please can anyone help me.

They both look like suitable candidates for Bar Charts.

[Line Charts are good when plotting against a date dimensions]

The bar chart will suit best in both cases. Choose to show the bars in horizontal orientation. You can find that setting on the Style tab of the properties window of the chart.

I find Stephen Few's book Information Dashboard Design: The Effective Visual Communication of Data very inspirational and would highly recommend it. Amongst other things it explains the various types of charts & visualisations and what scenarios are best suited to what.

His blog is also worth reading.
