Hello,

Does anyone know what versions of Internet Explorer are supported by the IE plugin?

Also, which versions of Internet Explorer are okay to run Qlikview?

v11.2 SR5 now supports IE11, but I consider the plugin as obsolete, as more functionality is provided via the Ajax client. - Collaboration, Session Sharing, Extensions. None of these work with the plugin.

Also the plugin has to be installed on each client whereas the Ajax client requires nothing installed so is simpler to manage. When upgrading the plugin must be uninstalled and re-installed to get the updated version.

The only thing the plugin does that Ajax doesn't is the users can resize their screen to fit with the plugin.

Thanks for the reply - good to know that IE11 is supported with the Qlikview update. I should have been more specific but I was actually more interested to know what is the earliest version of IE that the plugin supports? Does it support IE8?

You should be OK with IE8, but the new, scrollable tab row is not available in Internet Explorer 8, and you will just get the old stacked tab row.

Hi Colin

At the time of implementing QlikView we were made aware that the IE plugin was obsolete. However we found that the Ajax client was much slower and less responsive compared to the IE plugin, especially for users at remote sites connected over the WAN.

Is the Ajax client any more responsive on QV 11 SR 5? We are currently on 11.00.11282.0.

Detailed straight table charts and table objects can slow Ajax response where many rows are visible by default.

You can set a calculation condition to only display a chart when fewer than N rows are selected, this should improve performance. You could also set initial values via a document trigger to limit the data selections.

Plugin allows to run macros while AJAX is quite limited in this area. Not everything can be covered by Actions. Sometimes this criteria is decisive.

Yes - that's the reason we are using the plugin - lots of custom functionality via macros.
